Spokes recently went through a significant transition – founding CEO Lesley Santos stepped into a board role and the organization hired current CEO, Consuelo Meux, Ph.D. With two fantastic nonprofit leaders at the helm, we’re more prepared than ever to support you and your nonprofit.
Dr. Meux comes to Spokes with extensive nonprofit experience. As the former Executive Director of the SLO Noor Foundation, she is knowledgeable about the challenges that San Luis Obispo County nonprofits face. With a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems, she is an expert in women’s leadership styles; her work shows that women mentoring women is a winning formula. Her professional background includes management roles in development, public relations, grant writing, fundraising, strategic planning, marketing, and program development with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion. Dr. Meux is uniquely positioned to assist Spokes’ members with all the necessary tools needed to accomplish nonprofit goals.
Dr. Meux says, “As a Spokes member I have relied upon services like Foundation Directory Online, the resource library, and most importantly, the Executive Director Roundtable – the confidential, peer-to-peer support group was incredibly valuable. These are just a few of Spokes’ resources that help nonprofits achieve sustainability and maintain compliance, and I am thrilled to help expand Spokes’ offerings to a larger audience.”
Spokes staff roles have also shifted to support this transition. Jenna Espinosa is taking charge of the consulting and education workshops, while Jody Kocsis will manage Spokes’ membership and marketing. Together, Dr. Meux, Jenna, and Jody look forward to helping members on the path to nonprofit success.
