SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA, JANUARY 24, 2017 – Spokes, the nonprofit resource center for the Central Coast, celebrates five years serving San Luis Obispo County this month. Since 2012, Spokes has been committed to supporting local nonprofit professionals and board members through training, consulting, and resources – relying on private donations to underwrite its services. Wells Fargo was one of Spokes’ earliest and most significant donors, and continued its ongoing pledge with a $10,000 contribution this year. This gift enables member organizations to access vital training and consulting resources at little to no cost.
Spokes originally received substantial seed money to launch its operations from a small group of Founders Circle Donors – Hind Foundation, Wells Fargo, Shanbrom Family Foundation, as well as Brown, Goodwin, Salucci & Schwefler. Together, they comprise a group of philanthropic organizations and leaders that are committed to the well-being of San Luis Obispo County community.
“Here at Spokes, we value every opportunity to support those individuals who work so tirelessly and diligently to strengthen our community, and Wells Fargo shares our commitment. As a nonprofit organization that receives virtually no public funding, we are especially grateful for our partnership with Wells Fargo and their continuing support. As we look to our future service here on the Central Coast, we are absolutely thrilled to partner with donors that see the value in our work and the impact it has countywide,” said Spokes CEO Lesley Santos Dierks.
As Mark Corella, Wells Fargo VP & District Manager and Spokes Board of Directors member explained, “Wells Fargo can only be as successful as the communities it serves. Helping nonprofits better serve our communities, benefits everyone. Partnering with Spokes ensures our contributions have a profound effect on the people we serve, and are proud to be an early and ongoing sponsor.”
